Marine biologist coordinator
Miranda is Futurismo’s main biologist. She was born in Holland, but grew up in New Zealand where she obtained her Masters degree in marine science, focused on sperm whale population biology. She has been living in the Azores for 4 years, after falling in love with the marine life. During tours Miranda works as a guide and also collects data and takes photos to identify the individuals encountered. Since 2012 she has been representing the company at whalefest (the world’s largest festival to celebrate whale and dolphin watching) in Brighton, England. Miranda currently holds the position of chair of the working group on responsible whale and dolphin watching of the WCA (World Cetacean Alliance). Miranda has a great passion for all types of wildlife and nature photography.
