Imagine yourself floating in the deep blue ocean of the Atlantic, watching and hearing dolphins in their natural habitat. Learn more about the species, enjoy the ocean and find yourself on this invigorating trip! Before the trip we provide a general presentation about: the dolphin species, how to swim with dolphins in the wild, how to use a mask and snorkel, rules and how to behave around the dolphins and safety measures aboard. Lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch we depart on our jeep tour. This wonderful tour combines some off the road routes in both highlands and flatlands, taking you to the amazing natural reserve of Lagoa do Fogo to enjoy nature at its best. Astonishing views from the top of the crater’s border are a must to photograph! We then drive you to Caldeira Velha, a warm iron-rich waterfall where you can go for a dip to experience its warm waters.
This tour is not recommended for people with lower back problems neither to pregnant women. Please let us know if you have any of these conditions.
People wishing to undertake this activity should be confident swimming in open water in the middle of the ocean.
Bring: comfortable light clothes, sweater, raincoat, walking boots or shoes, swimming suit and towel, hat, sunblock, backpack, water.

Q: Can I touch the dolphins?
A: No. Our responsible swim with dolphin guidelines forbid touching these inquisitive but wild animals.
Q: Can I hear the dolphins?
A: Yes. It is very common to hear their whistles underwater.
Q: How many dolphins can I see?
A: Sometimes less than a dozen, other times up to 50 or more.
Q: Can I swim with the whales?
A: No, swimming with whales is forbidden in the Azores. However, there are several species of dolphins that you are able to swim with.
Q: Can I go for a dip in the waterfall?
A: Yes. The water is warm year round.
Q: What is the depth of the water beneath of the waterfall?
A: Not more than 80cm.
